Did you Know?
Did you know that white is the ceremonial symbol of purity and virtue
dating back from biblical times?
In about 1820 white became popular for formal occasions, although
pastels were in vogue until the end of the century. When Queen
Victoria popularized white at her own wedding in 1840, it became the
official color for brides.

TRUE STORY....
A bridesmaid Let's call her Madison) had alterations done on her dress. The style of her dress was an A-line that gathered around the waist,
Tank style with a V-neckline.
Madison needed a hem, sides taken in as well as the shoulders shortened, The seamstress pinned the dress for the hem, the sides as well as
the shoulders. She asked Madison, How did the dress feel? Is this what she wanted?
Madison was not comfortable with the sides or the shoulders. She felt the side were gapping and it just wasn't right. The Seamstress
proceeded to explain the style of dress, and explained if she were to take it in more, it wouldn't look right. Madison didn't say anything. The
seamstress wrote up a ticket and set up an appointment for a second fitting. Madison went back for her second appoint to try the dress on after
the alterations had been complete. She still wasn't happy with the top. She asked, is this the way the top is suppose to look and the seamstress
responded, "yes". Madison paid for alterations, and took the dress and wore it for the wedding.
Later Madison sent her Husband back in to see the seamstress upset at the work that was done on his wife's dress. He explained that Madison
had to pin her dress on the sides of the bust and the shoulder. That the dress was still too big and you could see her breast falling out. He
demanded money back. He felt that he didn't get what was paid for. Now keep in mind, while this is going on, Madison is not with her Husband.
Few seconds later he leaves the store only to return with Madison. The seamstress was shocked. She knew who the girl was and asked,
"Madison, why didn't you say anything to me that you were not happy with the dress?" Madison response was, "I did" The seamstress asked,
"Why did you send your husband in and not yourself?" Madison's response; "I was Scared". Madison felt that she had tried to explain she wasn't
happy, that the seamstress wasn't listening. She didn't want to argue with the seamstress.
In the end, they did receive some of their money back. They left with the dress that had pins in the sides and the shoulders.
If you have a second or third fitting, make sure you try the dress on
before leaving the store Do not assume that everything will fit fine.
Remember, the person who is altering your dress, is human and can
make an honest mistake that can be costly!!!
